The Abram pleural biopsy needle is a medical instrument designed specifically for performing pleural biopsies—procedures in which a small sample of the pleura (the lining of the lungs and chest wall) is taken for diagnostic purposes, often to investigate pleural effusion, pleural thickening, or suspected malignancy or tuberculosis.
Features of the Abram Pleural Biopsy Needle:-
Double-needle system: It has an outer cannula (needle) with a cutting window and an inner trocar (stylet) used to obtain tissue samples.

Fenestrated (windowed) design: The cutting window allows a piece of pleural tissue to enter the needle and then be trapped and cut by the rotating stylet.
